Value Statements

As members of the CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM ASSOCIATION OF BRITISH COLUMBIA – committed to provide professional and ethical care for the human and cremated remains of those entrusted to us, and to render considerate service to their families and to the community – we acknowledge the following objectives of this Association:

  1. TO PROMOTE a high standard of cemetery and crematorium management and operation in the service of the community;
  2. TO FOSTER the concepts of interment in their full aesthetic and traditional dimensions in accordance with the best of contemporary thought;
  3. TO ENCOURAGE the establishment and development of crematoria, as required. so that they may provide dignified cremation services – both worthy of the living and a tribute to the deceased;
  4. TO ESTABLISH a forum for discussion of matters of mutual concern to the membership and to those providing allied services;
  5. TO COMBINE efforts to meet, in its many forms, the modern challenge to the work of those providing death care services;
  6. TO CARRY OUT research, to make recommendations for prudent action based on that research, and to disseminate information relating to our work and the operation of our facilities;
  7. TO DEVELOP and encourage good business practices;
  8. TO COLLABORATE in elevating the ethical standards of all those providing death care services. and in improving community regard for our common endeavours by honest and sincere dealings with one another and with the public;
  9. TO ASSIST and encourage the public in the prudent planning in advance for their future cemetery or cremation needs;
  10. TO PROVIDE a medium for united effort and joint approach to government regulatory authorities and to be available to them as a resource; and
  11. TO COOPERATE with other kindred associations and groupings to promote these and similar aims on a regional or national basis.
